Cardiff by the Sea is widely known for its popular surf locations and sweeping ocean views from dozens of residential homes overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The community was originally used for farming and was developed in 1911 by Frank Cullen whose wife from Cardiff, Wales persuaded him to use the name and consequently named the streets in similar fashion after cities in the UK.
